一個人的執著，可以有多大的傷害性？「情獄」告訴你，執著可以毀掉一個家，甚至可以禍延下一代。

不自覺活在母親的陰影下，三姊妹各自有不同的命運。大女渾渾噩噩，以遺忘逃避傷痛，令感情世界一片空白。二女承擔了母親的執著，也重複了她的不幸婚姻。三女最反叛，竟扮演了那個令父親身敗名裂的小男孩的角色（忘年戀）。

命運的交集重疊，一直是奇斯洛夫斯基劇本裡的命題。可是往往到最後奇氏總向觀眾表達一點神秘樂觀---當你對自身的命運際遇有所自覺，你就能得到釋放。電影的結尾，三姊妹終於跳出「情獄」，與母親聚首一堂（這場戲也交待了母親與三個女兒的三種不同關係）。母親的最後一句說話，令人不寒而慄。今天社會的各種婚姻和家庭問題，何嘗不是情獄的折磨？

平凡的劇情，穿透深刻的意識，是「情獄」的不凡之處。片中重現「藍白紅三部曲」中那幕「阿婆當入樽」，是賣弄手法，還是再一次提醒大家人生的意義？請自行領會！
