The film's title does not well fit into the essence of its content as the defence power and the technical weaknesses of firewall are not amply exploited in the story. The Gordian knob in technically overcoming the difficulties of breaking the digital security network of the bank is not given a good share in the narrative. The motif of firewall and other digital technicalities as implied by the film's title are only far subordinated to the ordinary diegesis of ransom and non-digital, low tech physical chasing. The bodily fights of Harrison Ford (as software expert, Jack Stanfield) are only a necessary element in the genres of action and thriller but do not effectively enhance the visual readability of the entire film. Director Richard Loncraine prefers an unrestricted narrative in which the members of the ransom gang and their motive are fully exposed to the audience not soon after the expository sequence. The film is weak in suspense and tension with narrative progression well anticipated by the audience. It is a disappointing movie for fanatics of thriller stories in digital technology.
