After the success of the fiction book "The Da Vinci Code", the Dan Brown masterpiece is adapted to the silver screen by Ron Howard. Many times, successful book adaptations are not played by huge stars (Remember "Jurassic Park"?), but this film is quite an exception, with Tom Hanks playing the role of Robert Langdon, Audrey Tautou playing Sophie Neveu, Ian McKellen playing Leigh Teabing, and Jean Reno playing "Captain Fache".

There is a lot of information in the original story. So, although the film is 2.5 hours long, the pace of story is still quite fast. The screenplays pretty much follow what was written by Dan Brown. The story brings up a lot of controversies, and the most controversial idea is that Jesus Christ was married to Mary Magdalene, who was considered unclean by the Church. Also, it brings up the truth that the New Testament was compiled by the Church and not every gospel was included in it (which means it is man-made instead purely written through the prophets by the Holy Spirit). Some religious people will consider the story blasphemous, but some people may find it an alternative understand of what happened 2000 years ago. The film is particularly interesting to those who have read the Bible, no matter they believe in the Bible or not. To the other people, it might just be good fiction.
