Jim Stark (James Dean), a rebellious teenager who was flunked out of school, moved to a new town with his family. He soon made a new friend, Plato (Sal Mineo), and a bunch of new enemies led by Buzz Gunderson (Corey Allen), too. Jim was dared to have a chickie drag race to run a car off a cliff with Buzz: Whoever jumped out of the car earlier would lose the game. And that caused a fatal disaster...

The film is a classic first released 50 years ago in 1955. However, the message is still valid in the modern world, that good parenting is necessary to keep every teenager good. The film highlights the effect of peer pressure, where Jim was persuaded to do something he did not want to do but eventually turned his world upside down with the fatal accident.

After watch the film, I do agree that this film is a classic. The actors were good, the story was meaningful, visual was excellent, and what not. And when the legendary James Dean is in it, it cannot be a film to ignore. I am glad that this film is going to be shown again in Hong Kong soon. It is a classic not to be missed.
