Director Paul Abascal uses an unrestricted narrative for the film. The audience is fully acknowledged of the motive and the course of the revenge. This eliminates suspense and substantially reduces the degree of tension in the film. The story is straight forward and its progression is relatively slow. The appeal of the film comes more from its tapping into the issue of privacy in reality than from its plain diegesis or filmic properties. Cole Hauser (as Bob Laramie) does not come with stardom and hence the casting seems inappropriate.

The story is framed entirely on the perspective of the victims of paparazzi's intrusion into their privacy (movie stars being among the victims). It is from this story framing that the film carries a preferred reading in mass communication, that is, it directs the audience into a perhaps prejudiced scenario without suggesting alternative views. This carries similar effects to the practice of the media in "manufacturing" news of celebrities by assembling several snap shots of their targets, which is portrayed in the film. In other words, the producers of the film (Mel Gibson being one) are doing what the antagonists do on their targets in the film! The film is shallow and not exploratory theme-wise by not having an ethnographic perspective, as it is in the Hong Kong product "A-1" (Dir: Johnny To, 2004), from the media on how to tackle the issue. It is a disappointing film.
