18 years ago, mobster Pak Tak (Eric Tsang) saved little girl Phoebe (Annie Liu)'s life by claiming to marry her when she grew up, so that Lok Wa (Karena Lam), the wife of the godfather of another gang, would not kill her despite killing the rest of Phoebe's family. 18 years later, Pak Tak was killed and Phoebe inherited the gang. Her values changed her own gang and Lok Wa's.
To start, I am quite disappointed about the film. Despite a full cast of 8 Best Actors of different awards, the film is too slow paced and mildly boring. The storyline is not very different from a typical mobster film where there are always internal and external conflicts in a gang. The ending of the film is difficult to understand for many, and for myself the ending was poorly made. How much can a girl change the mind of all the people in two gangs towards what they do? With what is presented in the film, the impact of Phoebe's decision is impossible. With that, they are flaws in the script that could have been written very differently.
Despite Karena Lam is shown in many of the publicity materials, the real protagonist is Annie Liu. Annie Liu is probably the best thing in the film. She is beautiful and lovely, and she had shown her potential as a big star in the film.
