4 friends were sitting in a restaurant talking about life. With the same elements that were out there, they created two completely different stories for their characters "Melinda" (Radha Mitchell), one comedy and one tragedy.

The film's tagline is: "Life can be a comedy or a tragedy; it all depends on how you look at it." The line does not seem to fit perfectly for the film because the two stories are not about how you look at things, but rather about people's creativity to link different elements together to form a story, which would depend on the perspective of the story teller. The film feels a bit a "Sliding Door", but is not "Sliding Door".

With that, I think the theme is that life is about choice. With the same set of thing in life, you can choose to be a part of a comedy, or part of a tragedy. It is all about choice. Whoever chooses to be optimistic and happy are winners in life, and whoever chooses to be pessimistic and sour are losers. That is meaningful.
