Falling into the genre of comedy (vulgar), the film is full of sex laughters which negativises the positive theme of personal character change in response to circumstantial changes. The diegesis is built along absurdities which are the major appeal of the movie. The readability of the film comes from, to a large extent, the vivid staging of the super stars De Niro, Hoffman and Streisand, although Stiller and Polo are not bad. Nevertheless, a dialogue in the middle sequence of family meal hosted by the Fockers is an insult on the Chinese dining culture.
