Nora Cotterelle (Emmanuelle Devos), about to marry to a new husband, found her father was terminally ill. As she could not take care of her son Elias (Valentin Lelong), who was taken care of by her father, she wanted her ex-husband, Ismael Vuillard (Mathieu Amalric) to adopt the kid. At this moment, Ismael was being locked in a psychiatric ward. After his release, he agreed to adopt Elias, but he then had second thought.
The film was nominated for 7 Cesars, including Best Picture. It is quite good in general but it is a bit too long (2-1/2 hours). The acting was excellent, both Devos and Amalric. The film explores the journey of Nora and Ismael in depth, and quite successfully indeed.
