The film is a fantasy and fairy tale from the Japanese guru of animated pictures, Hayao Miyazaki. It comes with a theme of forgiveness and anti-war philosophy, portraying the futuristic ideal world compatible with utopianism and perfectionism. While "McDull Prince de la Bun" is nostalgic and entrenched with past glories, the flick from Miyazaki is forward-looking, inspirational, enlightening and anticipative. Miyazaki creates complex spatial and temporal orientations in the film. The background locale and temporal setting are not made explicit (in ancient Europe as hinted from the costume) and there are different renditions of space and time when the story progresses. The story is told in a linear and unrestricted narrative with a fairly high degree of causality. A single plot on Sophie is followed throughout. The film features blurred demarcation of good guys and villains, presenting a proximity to reality. Creativity is further exploited in the flick that the appearance of the main character, Sophie, changes with her emotions and thoughts, which is characteristic and a reflection of Miyazaki's downplaying of spatial dimension in his products. It is a movie that fits well to the younger generation's originality.
