If you think that this film has anything to do with Michael Jackson directly, you are completely wrong. The story of the film is based on the novel "The Man Who was Peter Pan", which is based on the real life story of Peter Pan author Sir James Matthew Barrie.

James Barrie (Johnny Depp) was a play writer. He went to a park to write a new play after the premiere of a failing one. He met the 4 little Davies kids and their widow mother Sylvia Llewelyn Davies (Kate Winslet). He began to be heavily involved with the family. Peter Davies (Freddie Highmore), the youngest of the 4 brothers, liked to write, too, and James inspired Peter to write. James was inspired by the kids, especially Peter, to write the story of Peter Pan. He spent so much time with the Davies that his wife Mary Barrie (Radha Mitchell) left him. At this time, Sylvia's sickness turned severe. She did not want to see a doctor, and Peter was feeling that she was to lose her mother. Charles Frohman (Dustin Hoffman), the boss of Barrie was suspicious about Barrie's new play. On the premiere night, Sylvia was too sick to see the play, and Barrie's success was on the line…

This film is an emotional one and the story is touching. It talks a lot about love: the love of Barrie towards the Davies family, the love of Peter towards his mom, and the love of Sylvia's mom Emma (Julie Christie) towards her daughter and her grandsons (although in a quite different way). Above all, the story features the magic of imagination, which brings joy to everyone, be he male or female, rich or poor, or old or young. As a matter of fact, imagination is the theme of Peter Pan. The film is easy to watch, too. It is a film for almost every one.
