Director Luc Jacquet uses voice-over for narration and humanizes the penguins by using human voice for them in this dramatized documentary. Though targeting at children as well as adults, the film does not downplay the cruelty of the nature and brings the death of those which cannot survive into mise-en-scene. Charlene Choi does not star well (voice) because of the pitch of her voice, which is not fit for the role of a penguin mother. It is a regret that the English version (narrator: Morgan Freeman) is not released in Hong Kong. The film is both informative and educational. It is a must see for the whole family.
