The story is about a pair of brothers Wilhelm (Matt Damon) and Jacob (Heath Ledger) who pretended to be exorcists in the French occupied Germany in the 18th century. A French general caught them. Instead of putting them to death, he asked them to go to a village to investigate a situation where there were potentially some people using the same tricks as theirs to take away a bunch of little girls from the village. It turned out that the force behind was more than human…
There seems to be nothing deeper than the plain fun on the surface that you can get from the story. The film is quite exciting from the beginning to the end, and at the same time entertainment. Visual is great. Somehow, I feel the actors/actresses are not that attractive except the 500 year old queen. This makes the film less attractive than it could have been.
In any case, the film is quite fun to watch. You probably will not regret spending two hours on it.
