This time, Takeshi Kitano is Zatoichi, the blind swordsman.

Zatoichi (Takeshi Kitano) came to a village and get into the middle of the war of the gangsters for casino business. Gennosuke Hattori (Tadanobu Asano), whose wife was sick and need money for her medication, took the job as a body guard of Oogiya and his gang. At the same time, siblings O-Ume and Shinkichi, whose family were killed when they were young, were trying to find the mastermind of the killers. All that leads to the duel of Zatoichi and Gennosuke…

When you watch the film, you will have no problem in identifying that the film is made by Kitano. The vaporizing blood that spilled out in all the scenes (which was only visual effects) is almost his signature. The film also features a lot of amusing scenes, ones that most of us would not even thought about making them as is in the film, like the tap-dancing peasants and dancing construction workers. The film is extremely entertaining, even though I know nothing about the Japanese language. If you are to watch only one film in March, I would recommend you to watch this one.
