The film is a cocktail. It is a product of visual entertainment mixing 3 fictitious characters, Dracula, Frankenstein and the Werewolf, and further imitating plots of Bond movies (the weapons and the weapon base) and The Alien (the ovals in Dracula's Castle). The mise-en-scenes capturing the grand settings and costumes are visually attractive. The non-diegetic music is fast-paced and adds narrative to the plots. The volume of both music and ambient sound is unnecessarily loud throughout the film. The visuals would have been more realistic if the monsters were not produced by computer graphics. The tragedy ending is not anticipated and, because of this, it serves to intensify the regret of Van Helsing (Huge Jackman) on Princess Anna (Kate Beckinsale). This product of director Stephen Sommers is not outstanding but worth watching.
