Despite having the same title as Part I, the film has no relations to it as the temporal representation and spatial orientation are completely different. The story is told in a linear manner with some flashbacks elaborating on the context of the characters' behaviours and is not outstanding.

The mise-en-scenes are colourful and there are deliberate "clashes" of colours, for instances, yellow and blue, red and green in the props, settings and costumes. The music is quite rhythmic and it comes with a western-style-like melody that is different from the ordinary Chinese martial arts movies and TV episodes. CG enabled martial arts, the intensive use of slow motioned crane shots (as well as other multi-directional camera movements) and the synergic effects between image and music make the fighting sequences melodramatic and moody. These acrobatic fighting scenes remind the viewer of the acrobat artists in the opening performance of the Olympic Games 2004 - the art of wires.

The presence of Lord of Armour (Jackie Chan) is obviously a commercial device. Anyway, his fighting scenes with Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Donnie Yen) are a variant replicate of a similar fighting sequence in the temple in "Hero". Juxtaposition of sounds (weapons, footsteps, water) is used to synchronize the visual flicks in both films.

Jaycee Chan's staging is relatively green and it takes time to polish. The presence of both young actors and other senior actors are a strategy to capture the market of the youngsters and the mid-aged spectators. It is just an average movie on the whole.
