Former judo champion Szeto (Louis Koo) quitted judo and ran a nightclub. Somehow, he got into a difficult financial situation. One day, Tony (Aaron Kwok) showed up in Szeto's nightclub to ask for a judo one on one with Szeto. Meanwhile, Szeto's judo master wanted Szeto to help him revive his judo school. Also, Szeto's former opponent Kong (Tony Ka Fai Leung) wanted to finish the unfinished match with Szeto...

The film is a seriously made film. The scenes are carefully written that even the most usual and boring scenes look unusual and entertaining. When you watch it, you might feel that, although the way the film is made is a bit far from reality, there is a strong sense of art in it. This makes the film one of a kind. At least, you will not be able find a similar film released recently.

Although judo is the theme of the film, you cannot see any judo tournament in the story. I think this is good for the film, since too many martial art related film involve unrealistic fighting championships. In any case, all actors performed their judo maneuvers quite nicely. To my untrained eyes, their actions do look like real judo.

In recent months, I have not seen a good Hong Kong film. This is a much better one in many months.
