近年丹素華盛頓主演的電影，通通是他隻身獨闖龍潭的橋段。《鑣火》亦不例外。加上此片的題材雖震憾，是富裕家長會請保鏢護送子女上學，唯內容未能承接，而丹素華盛頓拿手的內心戲亦並未派上用場。幸有導演不落俗套的拍攝手法。那是此片絕無僅有能帶給觀眾的新鮮感。
此片揭露墨西哥黑邦橫行的陋事，但仍可於墨西哥拍攝，無怪乎片末千多謝萬多謝此奇妙國家。
