This film follows the usual style of Ko Chi Sum and Wong Pak Ming duo. The film is quite amusing but would be difficult to understand for anyone who does not speak Cantonese. As the Mainland Chinese title of the film suggests, the story is about relationships between Guangdong boys and out-of-province girls. These girls often come from very poor regions in the country and they went to Guangdong province, where people are on average wealthier, to earn an income for their families back home, by hook or by crook. For this reason, many parents in Guangdong area do not like their children to marry out-of-province people. For us living in Hong Kong, it is a bit difficult to understand. The ending of the story is quite odd. It was the actors preaching how to deal with the people around us, trying to make the film look more like a Chinese New Year film. Although the film is barely 90 minutes, I would rather that part be taken away even though it means the film is less than an hour and a half. I think the produces should avoid such preaching even though they might think they need to talk to the audience.
