Jon Arbuckle (Breckin Meyer), Garfield's owner, got a new dog Odie from Liz (Jennifer Love Hewitt) whom he had a crush on. Garfield (Bill Murry/Ching-Wan Lau, voice) hated Odie as Odie was sharing Jon's love, and finally got Odie lost in the city. Odie was later picked up by TV host Happy Chapman (Stephen Tobolowsky) who dognapped Odie to go to another state to host a show. Garfield was sorry for what he had done and set out to save Odie…
The plot of the film is pretty unsophisticated and predictable. There is mild climax at the end but on the whole the film is kind of flat. It is not as funny as we hope for. The part that makes people laugh most is probably the scene where Garfield taught Odie dance. It is interesting, but quite empty. More demanding viewers may find the film boring, while those who are only looking for a relaxing moment will find it, well, relaxing and mildly interesting. Kids may love the film much more than adults. However, I doubt if an average Garfield friend will be crazy for the film.
