Two years ago in HKIFF, there was a film called "The Color of Life" that included a number of segments of the Fuccon Family. This year, an 8-minute short of the Fuccon Family is a standalone film in this year's HKIFF.
The Fuccons is a still/motion picture about a ridiculous family with all characters played by mannequins: no motions from the characters on running films. The feeling that this short gives me is not too different from my feeling about this family's segment in "The Color of Life" two years ago: the laughs of the family are as obnoxious as before. The plots are quite cheesy and cheap, but mildly entertaining. With no Chinese subtitles in the show, I think the film pleases no groups.
