Sam (Eason Chan) was mistaken as Georgie (Daniel Wu) who was the only and homosexual son of the head of a triad society. As Sam wanted to be in the position of the head of gangsters, while Georgie wanted to be just an average Joe, Sam and Georgie switched their identity when Geogie was called on to head the gang. Meanwhile Chow Chiu (Stephen Fung) wanted to skill Georgie for revenge, and eventually took Sam into possession...
Enter the Phoenix is a typical mediocre Hong Kong film: entertaining, and just plainly mediocre. The film tries to bring out the emotion of the viewers a numbers of times, and tries to praise the brotherhood of Georgie towards the end of the story. However, these are all done in a very cheesy way: unreasonable, and almost laughable (not in an interesting way). Director/screenwriter/actor Stephen Fung still needs a lot of experience to write a better script. The fighting scenes at the end is the highlight of the film. It is a bit strange that good sound effect only presents in these scenes.
If you forget to bring your brain into the theater, you would probably find this film okay. If you do demand quality in the films your watch, this film is probably not for you, at all.
