第28屆香港國際電影節電影
The film is about a campus mass murder by students using guns, imitating the tragedy of Columbine High that happened a few years ago (refer to Bowling for Columbine). The story happened on a normal day, as if everything was going to go normally. The film repeats a number of times what happened during a short period of time, with a different group of characters being the protagonists of a segment in each time. The director skillfully intertwined the experience of a number of selected students who were associated with the tragedy, bringing out the tragedy from different perspectives. Continuity is difficult in such case, but in Elephant continuity is almost flawless. There is no real ending of the story. What happened to the shooter and the cornered students is an unknown to the audience. The filmmakers may have difficulty in ending the story gracefully, but they surely have been successful in entertaining and scaring the audience. |
