The film is a Bollywood film written with the inspiration of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. There are a lot of music and group dances, typical in Bollywood films. I am reluctant to call it a musical, though, as if I do so then every Bollywood film is a musical.

Will Darcy (Martin Henderson) visited India with Balraj Bingley (Naveen Andrews) who was going to an Indian wedding in an Indian town. Darcy met Lalita Bakshi (Aishwarya Rai) in the wedding and immediately drove her crazy with his view about India's culture, especially marriage with overseas Indians. At this time, Lalita's mother Mrs. Bakshi (Nadira Babbar) tried to have Lalita marry Mr. Kholi who was an Indian from California. Lalita did not like Mr. Kholi and refused. Somehow, Darcy and Lalita developed their relationship, which was being risked when Lalita's family visited Darcy's mother in California…

The story does not only explore the difference in culture between India and America in the broadest sense. Specifically, it talks a lot about the meaning of marriage in the two cultures, and the view about India girls marrying overseas Indians. People who are not used to watching Bollywood films may find it amusing when the actors sudden start their Indian group dances. Although it is a Bollywood film, the dances suits the tastes of audience from both the West and the rest of Asia. The film is thus entertaining and artsy.

If you have already been thinking that Bollywood films are B-rated, this film is going to change your mind.
