The plot by itself is interesting and entertaining, but people who have watched a lot of films would find that each part of the plot resembles the plot of some another film: be it traditional kung-fu story or modern Hollywood classic (I am not telling which films here as I do not want my review to show any spoiler).

Cinematography of the film is exceptional. Cinematographer Zhao Fei made the scenes in the film very grand. All the landscape shots were very beautiful, and other shots were carefully planned to engage the audience. If there are no other things that you would appreciate (which I think would not be the case), you would still appreciate the outstanding visual quality of the film.

Some people found that Vicky Zhao was the only actress in the film. That is quite an interesting finding.
