The Chinese title of the film makes it appear a thriller genre film more than its English title does. Director Ozon externalises the internal information of Sarah Morton (Charlotte Rampling) and presents them in a highly restricted plot containing some sexual elements. The film flows along a narrative that encompasses two spatial dimensions: the external reality and the internal thought. The use of long takes on Sarah without background music in many scenes serves to assimilate the viewer into the plot, bringing a feeling of being in the locale and successfully creating some sorts of tension which lasts until the very ending. It is worth watching.
