Aditi (Vasundhara Das) was about to marry an Indian American whom she had not known for long. The parents of the two arranged the marriage. She was agreeing to marry the guy just because she wanted to settle down, while her TV anchor boyfriend was unable to commit to their relationship. Meanwhile, wedding planner Dubey (Vijay Raaz) was drawn to Aditi's maid Alice, and he began to show his affection towards her bit by bit. At the night of Aditi's ceremony, she sneaked out to meet her boyfriend. The wedding immediately ran the risk of being called off. Also, Aditi's cousin Ria (Shefali Shetty) revealed her secret of being molested by his uncle...
The film portrays the victimization of those in arranged marriages of both the bride and groom, and glorifies the freedom to love. At the background, it shows a lot about the wedding of typical middle-class families' wedding. With these, the film is bound to be an interesting one for non-Indian people. The story does not touch on dowry, a sensitive topic of Indian marriages, though, which the writers wittingly wrote that the groom was from the United States.
This film is the first Indian film that I have seen and it changed my prejudice towards film from the Bollywood, which I thought were always too Indian to be enjoyed by people outside India. Although from an origin unfamiliar to most people, I do think this film is one of the best in the year.
