Miranda (Christina Ricci), who teamed up with Christian (John Hurt) was a con-woman who searched for victims to buy properties that would be demolished. The properties were not theirs in the first place. She helped Christian because Christian helped her before. Frank (John Simm), a librarian, saw her when she was examining the soon-to-be-demolished library when she was going to sell. They two finally talked to each other and Frank fell in love with Miranda. After the sale, Frank searched for her, and found out that she was far more than what he expected, and both of them were in peril as Miranda was making a deal with Nailor (Kyle MacLachlan)...
The story does not have a lot of twists and turns, and is kind of slow paced. People who are looking for excitement will be disappointed. However, it is still relatively easy to watch, and should suit those who want to have a relaxed moment in the theater. One thing to focus on in this film is the fine acting of Ricci. John Simm's acting is also quite convincing, at the same time.
