Many people have said they have difficulty in digesting the story of "Matrix Reloaded". If this is the case, they would find Matrix Revolutions even more confusing! They won't be able to comprehend the finale of this trilogy if they attempt to regard it as a story. However, it is in fact a fable, or even a metaphor of the future of human beings.

The concept of "matrix" is quite philosophical. For many years some philosophers have had the conjecture that human beings are only living in one of the "possible worlds". In the "real world", you might be just a brain locating in a vat, which is connected with a number of electric wires. Numerous electric stimuli per second are input by the "scientist" into your brain to make you "perceive" and "conceive" the world. Thinking, feeling, intuition... are all data "downloaded" to your brain. This is exactly the idea presented in The Matrix.

Perhaps you just think The Matrix is just a science fiction. But I would rather take the "red pill" as Neo and choose to believe the matrix is real. In my own interpretation, matrix could mean the "subconscious world" of human beings. Our subconscious minds are operated by many "programmes" which condition our ways of life, so that we can do so many things without conscious thinking. For example, if you have learnt how to swim, you don't need to consciously exercise every body movement when you swim because you have been programmed to do so. Of course you can re-program your brain. But if you give up to be your own driver, your subconscious mind would be vulnerable to outside controls. Such "controls" may be positive or negative. Positive controls give you positive emotions (e.g. pleasure, satisfaction, relaxation, etc.) and negative controls give you negative emotions (e.g. fear, anger, depression, etc.). Subconscious is not the root problem; what causes the big pro blem is the "dark side" (negative emotion) of our mind. "Agent Smith" is the metaphor of The Matrix to represent the dark side, or the devil, in the mind of everybody.

Within the film, the Zion City faced with the invasion of the "Machine Empire". Apparently this refers to the world's potential crisis created by the misuse and abuse of technology. However, "Matrix Revolutions" has wisely pointed out the truth that both the Machine Empire and the matrix do not matter. The ultimate concern of human beings is Agent Smith! Both Oracle and Neo realized that Agent Smith is too powerful to defeat, so they determined to be "hacked" by Agent Smith and then used their "holy spirit" (in Bible's words) or "metta" (means "kindness" in Buddhism) to "dissolve" him.

I have figured out the above thinking when watching Matrix Revolutions. The film is great in terms of its wisdom but not so appealing as Matrix Reloaded in terms of the visual effects. Of course if you are a fan of Matrix, you can't miss this finale.
