Tom Leezak (Ashton Kutcher) met the daughter of a tycoon Sarah McNerney (Brittany Murphy) and soon they fell in love with each other. Nine months later, they got married. Sarah's family did not like Tom, for he was basically a nobody. The couple went on for their honeymoon, and nothing went as they should be. When they reached Venice, Sarah's ex-boyfriend Peter Prentiss (Christian Kane) went their, hoping to grab his last chance to take Sarah back. With nothing going well, the couple was on the verge of a divorce.
On the surface, the film is a comedy about a marriage that starts with nothing going well. Deeper inside, the writer explores the meaning of sex and love, the journey of marriages, and trust and honesty. Entertainment-wise, it does it job to make people laugh, although some people would expect more comedy pieces than what is in the film after watching the trailer (and I happen to be one of them). Art-wise, the film sugar-coats the discussion of how hard marriages usually start out to be, and how couples should put things into perspective and get through tough times together. As a result, the film does not sound like preaching but you would get the writer's message if you think through things a little bit. One very important idea is: All the bad things would be wonderful stories to tell their kids and grandchildren.
