CIA (supposedly fired) Agent Steve Tobias's (Michael Douglas) son Mark (Ryan Reynolds) was going to have his wedding with Melissa Peyser (Lindsay Sloane) on Saturday. Meanwhile, Steve was negotiating a sale of a long-lost submarine to Thibodoux (David Suchet) who would use the undetectable vessel to traffic narcotics, where the transaction had to take place on the same Saturday. When Steve met the Peyser family for the first time in a Vietnamese restaurant, he immediately got Melissa's father Jerry (Albert Brooks) into trouble. Steve took Jerry with him to meet Thibodoux in France to close the deal, and Jerry suddenly had to help him in completing Steve's mission. Angela Harris (Robin Tunney), Steve's sidekick, wanted to take charge as she thought she was ready, and she did what she needed to do to prove herself. Since the wedding and the deal were to take place on the same day, the wedding was meant to be a disaster...

Michael Douglas, a seasoned actor for drama films, suddenly turned himself into a comedian. It is his third comedy in recent years (after "It Runs in the Family" and "One Night at McCool's"). Personally, I would rather see him in dramas than comedies, but Douglas does do a very good job in playing the roles of his comic characters.

The story is very funny and quite comic, consistently. And, viewers would find themselves laughing, consistently, because of the plain fun brought to them in the story. Those who can understand the dialog without looking at the Chinese subtitles would find some scenes even more interesting as there are a lot of puns in the lines. The story does not pretend to be real-life, and it does not hard-sell any messages to the audience (although it does contain some message about marriage and parenting, subtly), which makes it much better than other pretentious film which becomes boring and hardselling towards the end of the film.

In short, the film is plain fun, and is worth my time (perhaps your time and money, too).
