One night in a famous Italian restaurant, a murder was planned to happen. Two bookmaking gangsters wanted partnership with Louis Cropa (Danny Aiello), the restaurant owner. Udo (Edoardo Ballerini), the owner's son and chief chef, was complaining to his father that he did not have any ownership of the restaurant. Duncan (Kirk Acevedo) owed the bookmakers $6,500 and wanted to win back the money with a big bet that night. Nicole (Vivian Wu), who was Duncan's girlfriend and Udo's ex, wanted to help him out. At the same time, a gourmet Jennifer Freeley (Sandra Bernhard) and police officer was there, and so was a Wall Street broker Ken (John Corbett). Who was going to kill whom?
Though the audience was to guess who the murderer was, who the murdered was, what the motive was, it was not an intense film. The most part of the film was dedicated to setting the stage, and let the audience to experience the business of running an Italian restaurant like this one. The ending was not very bloody, and just gave the audience an "a-ha" as to what was planned.
One reminder: you need to know what the film is about, i.e., someone was killing someone and you are to find out who and whom. Without knowing it, you will wonder what the film was all about in the theater the whole time.
