Although "The Death Curse" roles are mainly played by idol duel singers (i.e., Twins and Boy'z), the horror film is more serious than just selling its idol actors.
Nancy Ting (Charlene Choi) received a letter from her long lost father in China, who owned an enormous mansion, asking her to visit him. When Nancy arrived, she found that her father was just dead, and her 5 other half-siblings were all there, waiting for the distribution of his late father's estate. The estate administrator lawyer Cheung (Alex Fong) told the siblings that they had to offer incense every night until the 49th day after the father's death, or else they would not be able to get a share of the estate. People living around the mansion had seen faceless child-ghosts around it, and the sibling began to experience things out of this world…
The plot is complete and sound, and the acting is up to standard, and the production is a serious deal. It completely beats my expectation as I was expecting it to be a usual Twins film which featuring Charlene Choi pretending to be cute and promiscuous and Gillian Chung pretending to be clumsy and stupid. The part that does not please me much is the confusing love affair between Charlene's and Boy'z's Kenny's roles when they did not know they were brother and sister. The absurdity ends just there. For the rest, it is a full-fletched horror that actually made me feel uneasy.
