Matt Murdock (Ben Affleck) was blind as a result of an accident. Then he found he had the superpower to "see" the world through sensing sound waves. Matt's father was a boxer named Devil. After Devil refused to lose a boxing match, Kingpin (Michael Clarke Duncan) had Devil killed. When Matt grew up, he became a lawyer. Often when the court could not put the criminals in jail, he would become Dare Del and put laws in his own hands, including killing them. He met a girl named Elektra (Jennifer Garner), who was a daughter of a very rich man. Her father was killed by assassinator Bullseye (Colin Farrell) hired by Wilson Fisk (Kingpin), but she thought Dare Devil killed him. She decided she would take revenge and kill Dare Devil...

The film is a basically very comic. The characters were developed long ago when US was in Cold War with USSR. Americans were insecure and they projected their hopes for security on superheroes in comic books. That is the background for the birth of the comic book series "Dare Devil". The film kept the feel of its being an adaptation from such a series, and so often not every thing makes sense. Like the "Batman" series the mood of the film is very dark, but unlike Batman, Dare Devil was a killer, and he thought he was a bad person for his killings, thus in the end let the villains live (i.e., there will probably be a sequel). Again, that does not make too much sense if Dare Devil was smart enough.

On the while, the film is quite entertaining. If you like comic books, this film may well be for you.
