The film is an old Truffaut film first released in 1959. The story is about the adventure of a boy Antoine Doinel, a kid neglected by his step father and mother. The boy's story is actually the story of Truffaut himself. As a result, the storyline is kind of weak. There is no conclusion in the film. It does not tell how Antoine's experience affects his life in the future, at least not in the film, because Truffaut had made 5 films about his own experience. The story actually focused more on the situation, where Antoine was often neglected and misunderstood, where Truffaut was very successful in making this successful.

People who watch this film now often pay so much respect to the film and Truffaut that they do not dare to laugh when some amusing shots are shown. Actually, there are quite a number of parts which are amusing.
