Three rules:
Frank Martin (Jason Statham), an ex-special force agent who stayed in the French Mediterranean after his retirement, became a "transporter" who worked with the rules above. When he was asked to transport Lai (Shu Qi), he broke his rule and instantly got himself into trouble. The receiving end headed by Tarconi (Francois Berleand) decided to wipe out Frank. Fortunately, Frank avoided his death. To take revenge, he went back to Tarconi's nest and took his car, while unexpectedly Lai was inside, trying to escape. Tarconi ordered to destroy Frank and had his house bombed. Later, Frank found that Lai was not an ordinary girl. She was related to a snakehead for smuggling Chinese into EU.
Interestingly, the promotion in Hong Kong and America focus on different things. In US, the focus is on Jason Statham and his action. In Hong Kong, the focus is Shu Qi, featuring her first appearance in a Hollywood film, even though her part is far less significant than Statham's. Statham's role is Jackie Chan's-like, probably because of the close relationship between Jackie Chan and the director of the film Cory Yuen.
The film is intense from the very beginning. But, the film is ruined by the often-used Hollywood formula where the roles' behavior often goes against their good, such as Lai's father trying to kill Frank in an "interesting" place, among other things. Anyway, the plot is basically okay and the action is not bad.
