In the year 2020, the species of dragon has destroyed most of the human world, leaving behind small communities scattered around the world. Quinn (Christian Bale) was the leader of a community in Northumberland in England. They were constantly under the threat of dragons. One day, a community from US led by Van Zan (Matthew McConaughey) arrived at Quinn's camp. Van Zan's people had downed a number of dragons in the past, and they discovered that only female dragons were attacking. He theorized that there was only one male dragon, and killing that dragon would end the existence of dragons. Van Zan wanted Quinn's people to help him, and when not many wanted to, he began to "draft" his soldiers. When Van Zan was heading for London to find the dragon, the male dragon attacked them and Quinn's community. Quinn had no choice but to follow Van Zan and Alex (Izabella Scorupco), Van Zan's helicopter pilot, to go to London to kill the male dragon.
There are basically too many flaws in the story that the only thing that I could appreciate from the film was the realness of the movement of the dragons. There are a lot of things in the story that I could not understand: How come there was only one male dragon? How could a troop of Americans go to England with their tanks and armored vehicles? Van Zan's way of killing dragons was also unbelievable. Why did the dragons attacked alone when many of them lived together in London? Why did all the female dragons leave London, leaving the male dragon alone, when Quinn and Van Zan arrived? Why were the dragons' wings so full of holes but they could still fly (or let me put it this way: How could the dragons defy all the laws of physics?) So on and so forth. But yes, the dragons' movements were so lively that they looked like real, so real that I appreciated it very much but at the same time it is so real that the special effects become uninteresting.
