After Madame M's (Almen Wong) killer, who often used her body to attract the murdered, was killed in an operation, she began to search for young girls who had the potential to become her next weapon around the globe. Many girls talented in martial art were kidnapped onto an unknown island. Katt (Anya) and Charlene (Maggie Quigley), who quickly became close friends soon after they arrived at the island, were among them. The girls received 6 years of harsh training on the island. Unknown to them, only one of them was supposed to survive and be Madame M's weapon. The judgment day came, and Katt had to face Charlene and other girls inside a cage. While only 3 girls were left, Madame M changed her mind to keep all 3. They were sent out to kill and were quite successful. Then they got a mission in Hong Kong where Charlene's mother (Cheng Pei Pei) was among those to be murdered, and CIA agent Jack (Daniel Wu) was following the case. Madame M made a deal with Ryuichi (Lien Kai) to kill an unknown target, and Ryuichi had a special request that Madame M did not refuse. That pulled the whole gang into a disaster.

While Quigley is well known for her beauty, people expected that the film was not much more than using the looks of Quigley and Anya to draw people into the theaters. However, Quigley surprised us (pleasantly) with her acting that proved she is much more than a model, and Anya sure shows that she was much more than her look.

Not many Hong Kong made films are in English. This is one of them (at least the version I watched). As a matter of fact, the style is kind of Hollywoodish. I am sure this is targeted at more than the Asian market. The first Hong Kong English film I watched was crappy; this one is better, but far from a flawless one. Many scenes are focused more on entertainment than a reasonable flow of the story. Madame M's picking of the survivor was a ridiculous one (Right, it is not about fairness, but how about the interest of herself after spending 6 years on the training of the girls?). And how about Ryuichi's torturing of Katt? (He must have spent hours to set up the thing and wait for the return of an enemy.) And of course, the classic one-on-one fist fight between the "good" and the "evil" at the end where showmanship of stunts shadowed the determination to win from both sides (classic Hong Kong and Hollywood ending, sadly). These are the more obvious ones. Having been in war games twice, I believe I would a lesser chance to be killed than the "naked weapons" just by "taking cover" (Anyway, this is a flaw committed by most Hong Kong films involving any gun shooting.).

Despite the minuses, the film is an entertaining film that gives you a bunch of surprises. Making a good film for the international market is not within the familiar boundary of the filmmakers, and this film probably is a nice try by all of them.
