Yuichi (Hayato Ichihara), after entering junior high school, had been bullied by gangster in school such as Inubushi. During the next summer break, he and some schoolmates went to Okinawa for a trip, where they experienced a bloody traffic accident. After that, his world changed. For one thing, one of his friends Hoshino, who went to Okinawa with him, beat Inubushi. For another, Yuichi began to live Lily Chou-Chou, whose song filled the empty spaces in Yuichi's heart. He operated a web site called Lili-philia, and named himself Philia in the site, where he met another Lily Chou-Chou fan Blue Cat. The film talks a lot about the lives of the junior high school students in Japan, but the focus is on the bullying and the unethical 'businesses' practiced by the students, including robbery and prostitution of the young female students. Also, the film is about a youngster's attaching himself to idolism of pop singers in where they can find their relief from the cruel world that they face at school.

Although the film is quite long (146 minutes), some parts are so fast-paced that it is quite hard to follow, such as the scenes where the viewers have to read the online messages of the fans of Lily in Lili-philia (Yes, you have to read a lot in the film.). Unfortunately, the authors' names always come after the messages, which makes interpreting the feel of the message authors and the flow of the plot a next-to-impossible task.
