27 Missing Kisses is a very different film for many of us: the film is from the country of Georgia (not the state of Georgia in the US, but the main actress was born in the country of Georgia and had moved to the state of Georgia!). The story is also quite an interesting one. 14-year-old Sibylla (Nino Kukhanidze) came to live in a Georgian village with her aunt for the summer. She fell in love with Mickey's (Shalva Iashvili) father Alexander (Yevgeni Sidikhin), who was 41, while Mickey fell in love with her. Alexander resisted her, mainly because of her age. A secret screening of the film "Emmanuelle" in the village caused some interesting sexual things going on in a normally quiet village. In the end, Sibylla went to Alexander's room and tried to sleep with him, but Alexander resisted. Mickey thought they did had sex and he killed his father out of jealousy.

The name of the film was from the fact that Sibylla promised to give Mickey 100 kisses, but Sibylla was gone forever after giving him 73 of them. Somehow, I did not understand how the promise was given (A reel was missing in the preview, or did I miss something?). The film mainly describes love and jealousy to the extreme, but it also touches on the lives of those who live in the rural area of the country of Georgia, which was a communist state before 1989. The villagers' lives were simple and rudderless, and even a screening of a porn film would have a huge effect on the lives of those people. The part that discussed the odd marital relationship of the Captain (Pierre Richard) and Veronica (Amaliya Mordvinova) is also interesting.

As I said, the film is different from what we usually see. As a matter of fact, some would find this film odd. In any case, it is a good opportunity of us to watch a film that came from a land that is so foreign to us.
