Satorare are people whose thoughts are always "heard" by people within 10 meters from them. The Japanese government regarded them as national treasure because their average IQ is much higher than normal people (180). The government had to protect these people because if they knew everyone heard their thoughts, they will mentally break down. Satorare #7 chose to be a doctor, but the government knew that he would be of better use to the world if he is to be in research of drugs. The national committee sent a psychologist to try to understand him and try to change him so that he would turn to research. #7 chose to be a doctor because of his feeling towards his grandmother. His grandmother was dying when he was about to become a researcher. He had to choose between serving the country or serving himself and his grandmother.

As thoughts heard by others is kind of an interesting concept, the film is generally amusing throughout the 2 hour duration, although it is not going to make you laugh a lot. The film is meant to be funny and touching. However, I do not feel so. In the ending, the production team tries to make us so touching that we had to cry, but, for some reason, it failed. Rather, it gave me quite a pleasant feeling and a little but of "ah-ha". That's probably it.

The film portrayed a little bit about the choice of #7 in whether to serve the world to be researcher, or to serve his own interest by serving as a medical doctor. His choice could have ruined the feel of the film. But from an individual character's point of view, it is not a bad decision, especially when the person does not know about his superiority.

On the whole, this film is a bit better than most average Japanese films, and the story is undoubtedly interesting.
