The weakness of Sweet November is that it made the audience think that the story was completely ridiculous in most of its 2 hours. For example, why did Sara Deever (Charlize Theron) sound like a lunatic who offered sex to whoever she wanted to help? What was the motive behind what Sara did? The producers might have wanted the audience to guess why, but the secret was kept so long that people felt bored and wanted to leave the theater. When it saw it, I felt the same. However, towards the end of the film when the secret of why Sara offered so much to her men of the months was reviewed, every thing makes a lot of sense to me. But for most people, the revealing of the secret was too long to wait and still the reason might not make sense to most people. It was the psychological needs of human that made Sara did what she did. For most of us, human needs are food, sex, companionship, education, etc. The needs of Sara were control of life, self-esteem, creation of meaningfulness, the kind of things that are not readily understood by most people because people are taught to understand things and not people.

If the film is a competition of acting between Charlize Theron and Keanu Reeves, Reeves lost big time. He probably over-acted in the scenes like making a presentation about a hot dog advertising campaign and under-acted when he faced the departure of his girlfriend. On the other hand, Theron always appeared sweet and natural. (Well, Theron is Sweet and Reeves is only November.)

Some critics say the film is a complete failure. To me, it failed in keeping the interest of the audience and making the Sara Deever character too hard to understand. Perhaps this can generate a good conversation with a friend if you watch it.
