A few years ago, Jonathan (John Cusack) and Sara (Kate Beckinsale) met
in a department store while "fighting" for a pair of black gloves.
They had a great evening together. Despite they both had their own soul
mate, Jonathan wanted to keep in touch with Sara. Sara, who believed in
signs and destiny, wanted to test if destiny wanted them to be together.
It did not work out, and for a number of years, they did not see each
other?until Jonathan was getting married. Jonathan, wanting to make sure
"God Father II" is better than "God Father" thus needing
to watch "God Father" to appreciate "God Father II"
(do you know what I mean?), began to look for Sara. Sara, who was also
about to get married, was also trying to see Jonathan. And, their searches
for each other were on?The story is about signs, destiny, love, but more
importantly, about people's will to pursue what they want. The story does
not tell whether we should believe in signs and destiny or not, as the
ending depended on both the will power of the characters and the signs
that they encountered. However, this is what makes the story interesting
and entertaining.
Even if you do not care about what the story wants to tell, it is still
a film to choose for most people. The film is moderately (but not very)
romantic and very funny. Its story does not need you thinking much. And,
the characters are lovable. Beckinsale (who was in Pearl Harbor) as Sara
is absolutely a lovable character, and girls may also find Cusack's Jonathan
a very cute guy, too.
