Here is the story: The China ambassador's daughter was kidnapped by the gang headed by Juntao, a famous illegal national treasure trafficker, during the rush hour in Los Angeles. LAPD sent James Carter (Chris Tucker) to help the FBI to "accompany" Lee (Jackie Chan), who was a close friend of the ambassador, so that James would be humiliated and Lee could be kept away from the investigation. Later, James and Lee started their own investigation. Juntao, not to his knowledge, was a close friend of the ambassador. The little girl was almost killed, but Lee was not going to let her die?Unlike the Hong Kong made Jackie films, there is not as much kung fu action in this film. To the fans in Hong Kong, this is not a bad thing. As far as I know, some people are already sick of Jackie's action, even though his action is as good as before. Some scenes are quite funny, and the comedy pieces are, in general, more laid back than those of other Jackie's films. Having seen quite a number of Jackie's film, I believe this is one step ahead from his previous films.
Unluckily, the VCD was quite poorly made. The audio is mono (believe it or not!). The picture quality is horrible (note: the VCD is not a pirated copy). The video compression was so bad that you cannot see real black in the whole film. That might have affected my feelings towards the film. If you can play DVD, the DVD version of the film should be a better choice.
In any case, if you want to watch Rush Hour II, it would be a good idea to watch Rush Hour first.註:本評論純屬影評作者個人意見,並不代表本網立場。
