凶 心 人 可 算 是 筆 者 在 今 年 看 的 最 好 一 部 電 影 。 故 事 的 表 達 方 法 十 分 特 別 。 故 事 主 要 分 兩 條 線 ： 第 一 是 由 Leonard 開 始 查 案 說 起 ， 以 黑 白 畫 面 來 表 達 ； 第 二 是 從 Teddy 被 殺 一 刻 起 一 步 步 說 回 前 事 。 兩 線 在 戲 的 最 後 部 份 交 接 ， 並 將 整 件 事 的 真 相 說 出 。 這 表 達 方 法 真 的 很 高 明 。 導 演 兼 編 劇 的 Christopher Nolan 應 記 一 大 功 。 此 片 成 本 低 （ 只 有 三 個 主 要 角 色 及 不 用 任 何 電 腦 動 畫 ） ， 而 攝 製 時 間 短 （ 只 有 25 天 ） 。 Nolan 可 說 創 造 了 奇 蹟 。 實 際 上 ， 此 片 在 IMDb.com 中 暫 時 是 有 史 以 來 最 受 讚 賞 的 十 大 電 影 之 一 ， 而 它 亦 是 十 大 中 唯 一 一 部 是 在 二 十 一 世 紀 首 播 。

筆 者 看 了 此 片 有 這 樣 的 感 想 ： 我 們 不 可 再 用 經 費 不 足 作 為 部 份 香 港 片 的 差 劣 的 借 口 。

此 片 輕 輕 帶 過 了 一 個 意 念 ： 記 憶 可 以 被 扭 曲 ， 但 沒 有 了 它 便 不 能 為 一 個 人 定 義 。 這 可 是 個 好 話 題 。 另 外 ， 此 片 所 帶 出 的 一 個 比 較 強 烈 的 訊 息 是 ： 當 我 們 以 為 自 己 掌 握 了 事 實 但 又 不 知 事 情 的 始 末 ， 其 實 我 們 可 能 是 甚 麼 也 不 知 道 。 此 片 的 觀 眾 可 能 最 初 肯 定 誰 是 凶 手 ， 但 隨 著 故 事 的 發 展 ， 觀 眾 會 發 覺 他 們 所 知 道 的 比 想 像 中 少 。

此 片 是 一 齣 劇 情 片 。 觀 眾 需 要 頗 用 腦 思 索 。 即 是 說 未 必 每 一 個 影 迷 都 會 喜 歡 它 。 但 若 果 你 懂 得 怎 樣 欣 賞 好 劇 本 和 好 故 事 ， 很 認 真 的 ， 你 一 定 不 可 以 錯 過 凶 心 人 。

Leonard's (Guy Pearce) wife was raped and murdered. While trying to save her, Leonard was hit by the second murderer at his head and suffered from inability to create new memory. He killed Teddy (Joe Pantoliano), who he thought was the second murderer, based on the evidence he gathered, including from Natalie (Carrie Anne Moss), on instant photographs and tattoos. However, the situation was not that simple.

The film is the best film I have watched so far in this year. The story was told in a non-linear fashion. There are two threads: a linear one starting from when Leonard started his own investigation (in black and white), and the other stepping backward from the killing of Teddy (in color). The two threads finally merged at the end of the film where the truth was revealed. The way in which the story is presented is really stunning. The director/screenwriter is the hero of the film. With a low budget (only 3 main characters and no computer generated animation) and short filming schedule (25 days, as I was told), Christopher Nolan has performed an earthly miracle. In fact, this film is currently rated one of the top 10 all-time best films in Internet Movie Database (IMDb.com) and is the only one of the ten first released in the new century.

After watching this film, I have one thought: we really can't blame the lack of funds for making bad films in Hong Kong (Note: Make no mistake: I only mean that some Hong Kong films are bad).

The film vaguely brought out the idea that: memory perhaps can be twisted but a person cannot be defined without it. It is something interesting to discuss. A stronger message that the film brought out is that: when we thought we know a lot about now but without knowing what happened in the past, we could have known nothing at all. In the film, the audience may think who obviously was the murderer. However, as the story unfolded, they would find out they have known much less than they have thought.

This film is a crime thriller/drama. The audience would need a lot of thinking while watching the film, meaning it is not for everyone. But if you know how to appreciate good scripts and good stories, seriously, this film is one that you cannot miss.
