若 大 家 留 意 到 此 等 主 要 角 色 的 英 文 名 字 ， 你 會 發 覺 是 改 得 很 有 心 思 的 。 大 家 可 留 意 下 面 英 文 版 的 第 二 段 。

故 事 情 節 的 發 展 並 不 符 合 美 國 的 法 例 ， 但 電 影 本 身 是 頗 有 娛 樂 性 的 ， 尤 其 是 在 頭 三 分 二 。 此 片 長 120 分 鐘 ， 對 於 一 部 喜 劇 來 說 ， 這 是 長 了 一 點 。 所 以 ， 部 份 情 節 有 點 悶 ， 尤 其 是 導 演 要 在 片 裡 表 達 ： 在 這 物 質 的 世 界 裡 還 是 有 真 愛 的 。 片 中 屢 次 播 出 Hewitt 性 感 的 步 姿 。 雖 然 Hewitt 確 有 幾 分 姿 色 ， 但 這 些 鏡 頭 用 得 太 多 了 。 話 雖 如 此 ， 片 中 的 笑 料 不 錯 ， 所 以 此 片 仍 算 是 可 一 看 的 。

Max Conners (Sigourney Weaver) and her daughter Page (Jennifer Love Hewitt) are a con team which trapped wealthy men into marriages and seduce them to cheat, making the men share half of their wealth with the team. They have been succeeding 13 consecutive times before something went wrong: Max's 13th "husband" Dean Cumanno (Ray Liotta) tried to win her heart back when she was working on number 14, William Tensy (Gene Hackman). To complicate the matter, Page was falling in love with Jack Withrowe (Jason Lee) while trying to cheat half on his assets, but Max objected that because she does not believe in the existence of love. She tried to ruin the marriage between Page and Jack.

I noticed that the names of the characters are quite amusing. The mother and daughter's name Conners reflects that they are cheats. "Cumanno" sound like con man, and in fact Cumanno is a mobster. "Tensy" sounds like something naive, and Tensy was. I don't know what Withrowe could represent, though. Maybe, "with love"?

Legally unsound in the story, the film does provide much entertainment and amusement in the first two thirds of it 2-hour duration. The 120-minute duration is kind of a warning sign that some part of it is boring, as most successful comedies are under 100 minutes. The fact that the film tries to explain that in this material world there still is true love is not helping the film much, and that is the minutes that fill the gap between a good comedy and its 120 minutes. One thing that the film is selling is the figure of Hewitt and many a shot focused on her walking sexily. Although she is quite stunning, I felt quite indifferent to that, especially after watching a dozen similar shots. The film is not really a classic, but if you don't think too much, the film is not bad at all.

Something almost irrelevant: Part of the film was filmed in New York when the World Trade Center Twin Towers were still there. There is a shot which shows the towers very clearly. I felt something when I watched the shot, but don't quite know what it is...
