一 夥 外 星 隕 石 撞 落 阿 里 桑 拿 州 的 沙 漠 區 。 生 物 教 師 Dr. Kane （ David Duchovny 飾 ） 及 地 質 學 家 Dr. Block （ Orlando Jones 飾 ） 發 現 該 隕 石 帶 有 外 星 的 單 細 胞 生 物 。 那 些 單 細 胞 在 一 天 內 已 經 進 化 成 多 細 胞 生 物 。 他 們 靠 氮 氣 為 生 ， 遇 上 氧 氣 便 會 窒 息 死 亡 。 但 隨 著 進 化 ， 他 們 慢 慢 地 適 應 了 氧 氣 。 在 研 究 過 程 中 ， 由 Woodman 將 軍 （ Ted Lavine 飾 ） 及 Dr. Reed （ Julianne Morre 飾 ） 帶 領 的 研 究 人 員 偷 了 Kane 及 Block 的 資 料 及 細 胞 樣 本 。 同 時 ， 外 星 生 物 已 進 化 成 對 人 類 有 危 險 性 的 生 物 。 州 長 （ Dan Aykroyd 飾 ） 要 Woodman 纖 滅 他 們 。 軍 隊 便 用 引 爆 的 方 法 消 滅 他 們 ， 但 他 們 竟 在 爆 炸 中 更 急 速 地 進 化 ……

此 片 只 是 一 個 十 分 有 趣 的 電 影 ： " 論 盡 " 的 Dr. Reed 、 愚 蠢 的 Cryer 少 尉 、 無 能 的 消 防 員 考 生 Wayne Green （ Seann William Scott 飾 ） 等 等 人 物 都 相 當 惹 笑 。 進 化 了 的 外 星 生 物 的 造 型 十 分 有 心 思 及 十 分 有 趣 。 可 是 ， 觀 眾 不 要 太 在 意 片 中 的 化 學 。 對 科 學 家 來 說 ， 片 中 的 科 學 只 是 搞 笑 （ 實 在 全 片 亦 只 是 搞 笑 ） 。 筆 者 不 大 相 信 Se 可 以 毒 死 氮 氣 為 基 礎 的 生 物 。 說 到 尾 ， 這 片 只 是 搞 笑 罷 了 。

筆 者 說 到 此 亦 沒 有 太 多 話 要 說 。 此 片 並 非 要 說 些 甚 麼 道 理 。 以 科 幻 帶 來 娛 樂 已 經 是 全 片 所 要 造 到 的 。 如 果 你 只 想 要 一 些 簡 單 的 娛 樂 ， 此 片 應 可 以 滿 足 到 你 。

A meteorite stroked into the desert in Arizona near Glen Canyon area. Biology teacher Dr. Ira Kane (David Duchovny) and geologist Dr. Harry Block (Orlando Jones) found out that the meteorite brought single cell organisms from outer space to Earth. The cells rapidly evolved into multi-cell creatures in a day. At first, the alien creatures lived on nitrogen and suffocated to death when they were exposed to oxygen, but they were adapting to the Earth's environment generation after generation. In the middle of Kane and Block's research, the military team led by General Woodman (Ted Levine) and Dr. Allison Reed (Julianne Moore) stole the cell samples and data from the doctors' lab and took over the research project. The alien creatures evolved and some harmful creatures began to exist and spread all over the place. The Arizona governor (Dan Aykroyd) demanded the extinction of the alien creatures from his state. The military planned to use napalm to wipe out the alien creatures, but actually the alien creatures' evolution could be catalyzed with heat...

The whole film is just one fun motion picture: The clumsy Allison, the stupid Lt. Cryer (even the name is a humor!), the incapable fireman wannabe Wayne Green (Seann William Scott)... All very funny. The evolved alien beings were very well designed and were very cute. Don't think too much about the chemistry in the film, though. It does not necessarily make any sense to the scientists. I doubt the validity of using selenium to kill nitrogen-based creatures. But again, it is just plain fun.

There is not much I want to say about this film because there is not much to say apart from its being funny. It is not a film to convey a philosophical message. Brining fun out of science fiction is the only thing about the film. If this is what you want, the film is what you need.
