讀 到 這 裡 ， 大 家 都 會 感 覺 到 這 是 一 部 藝 術 多 於 官 能 刺 激 的 電 影 。 喜 歡 這 類 電 影 的 人 相 信 會 覺 得 這 是 一 部 製 作 嚴 謹 的 電 影 。 認 識 法 西 斯 的 起 落 會 對 了 解 此 片 有 十 分 多 的 幫 助 。

The film is about a story that happened in 1936 in Galicia, Spain when the Fascist rebels were challenging the sovereignty of the Spanish Republic government. Moncho (Manuel Lozano) was starting to go to school but was afraid that his teacher, like other teachers, would hit him. Contrary to his expectation, his teacher Don Gregorio (Fernando Fernan Gomez) was a very friendly old man. Don and Moncho had a very good relationship. Don was a Republican, while the power of the Fascists was growing in Spain. One day, the Fascists came to Galicia and took the anti-Fascists to jail. Don was one of those who were arrested. To avoid trouble, Moncho's mother made the family shout anti-Republican slogans. Moncho's father, a Republican himself, did so in tears. Moncho, on the other hand, did so without shame and followed other children and threw stones at the Don and other under arrest.

The title is probably about something that Don had not shown Moncho before his arrest. Don took his class to a field trip and explained how a butterfly's tongue works. A butterfly tongue was so small that Don had to wait for the delivery of a microscope to the school to show his students. Before the microscope arrived, Don was arrested. So, he never had the chance to show a butterfly's tongue to his students, and that might explain the Chinese title of the film.

The film portrayed the relationship between Don and Moncho. It was a very strong teacher-student relationship. Why did Moncho throw stones at Don? Is it because of the influence of his family? Is it because of the influence of the brutality of the fascists? How can a relationship change in the blink of an eye? What is the meaning behind it? Is it something other than a butterfly's tongue which Don had not shown Moncho? These are something to think about.

All written above has suggested it is a film of art rather than of stimulation to your nerves. The fact that it is shown only in Broadway Cinematheque is also a warning sign to those who do not like this kind of films. But for those who appreciate its kind, you will find that it is a very well made film. Studying the rise of Fascism in Spain will help you enjoy the film.
