當 筆 者 看 《 IT 狂 迷 》 頭 半 小 時 的 時 候 ， 覺 得 像 看 十 多 年 前 Tom Cruise 的 《 糖 衣 陷 阱 》 。 在 兩 齣 戲 中 ， 都 是 有 一 個 十 分 有 才 華 的 新 畢 業 生 被 一 間 很 有 名 氣 的 公 司 僱 用 ， 僱 主 一 直 監 視 著 他 ， 而 他 後 來 發 覺 自 己 捲 入 犯 罪 行 為 當 中 。 但 《 IT 狂 迷 》 的 後 三 分 二 則 與 《 糖 衣 陷 阱 》 很 不 同 。

Gary Winston （ Tim Robbins 飾 ） 是 NURV （ Never Underestimate Radical Vision ） 的 總 裁 ， 在 戲 中 被 刻 劃 為 一 個 很 像 微 軟 的 Bill Gates 的 人 物 。 兩 個 人 都 是 軟 件 公 司 的 總 裁 ， 而 且 常 常 受 到 壟 斷 的 指 控 。 編 劇 Howard Franklin 在 寫 劇 本 的 時 候 必 定 無 時 無 刻 在 想 著 Bill Gates ， 而 他 可 能 亦 十 分 憎 恨 微 軟 。 片 中 常 常 提 及 公 開 程 式 編 碼 的 概 念 ： 即 程 式 設 計 員 將 所 有 編 碼 公 開 ， 而 收 入 則 完 全 依 靠 技 術 支 援 。 Linux 就 是 用 這 種 概 念 ， 而 其 發 明 者 亦 是 此 片 的 技 術 顧 問 。 Sun 的 總 裁 亦 是 技 術 顧 問， 而 其 公 司 與 微 軟 亦 對 電 腦 的 發 展 有 不 同 的 哲 學 。 Sun 供 應 免 費 辨 公 室 軟 件 給 客 戶 下 載 。 微 軟 反 對 公 開 編 碼 ， 片 中 的 NURV 亦 是 一 樣 。 在 片 中 ， 觀 眾 會 發 覺 製 片 人 對 微 軟 的 恨 。 Milo （ Ryan Philippe 飾 ， 片 中 的 天 才 畢 業 生 ） 問 Gary ， Gary 與 Bill Gates 有 甚 麼 不 同 時 ， Gary 回 答 ： " 哪 一 個 Bill ？ " 不 論 現 實 世 界 中 的 人 怎 樣 描 黑 Bill Gates ， 筆 者 不 相 信 Bill Gates 會 像 Gary Winston 般 收 買 人 命 以 達 到 自 己 的 目 的 。 劇 本 只 是 製 作 人 " 夢 " 的 昇 華 。 這 再 一 次 顯 示 他 們 對 微 軟 的 恨 。

此 片 甚 有 娛 樂 性 ， 但 瑕 疵 卻 頗 多 。 片 中 NURV 的 保 安 系 統 形 同 虛 設 。 Milo 只 是 資 料 壓 縮 專 家 ， 但 不 需 一 分 鐘 便 闖 入 NURV 的 系 統 。 現 實 中 ， 駭 客 專 家 也 需 要 更 多 的 時 間 。 NURV 亦 不 應 將 其 犯 罪 資 料 放 在 公 司 的 系 統 內 。 對 於 受 過 些 少 資 訊 系 統 教 育 的 人 來 說 ， 真 的 沒 有 說 服 力 。 再 看 看 所 有 電 視 頻 道 及 資 訊 系 統 都 在 播 Synapse 的 畫 面 ， 簡 直 ……

總 括 來 說 ， 《 IT 狂 迷 》 是 很 有 娛 樂 性 ， 而 且 亦 是 對 微 軟 的 一 個 有 趣 的 惡 作 劇 ， 但 卻 欠 缺 成 為 經 典 電 影 的 元 素 。 戲 是 好 看 的 ， 但 朋 友 們 切 記 ： 現 實 生 活 任 何 電 腦 的 保 安 系 統 比 NURV 的 都 好 一 百 萬 倍 ！

When I watched the first half hour of "Anti Trust", I felt like watching "The Firm" of Tom Cruise which was released more than 10 years ago. In both cases, an extremely talented fresh graduate was hired by a prestigious firm in the industry, the firm was watching the hired at the time, and the hired found out that he was in the middle of a crime. However, the later 2/3 of "Anti Trust" is very different from "The Firm".

Gary Winston (Tim Robbins), the CEO of NURV (Never Underestimate Radical Vision) was portrayed as a Bill Gates-like personality. Both people are always involved in anti-trust lawsuits and both are the CEOs of giant software companies. I believe that Howard Franklin (the screenwriter) was always thinking about Bill Gates when he wrote the scripts. He is also very likely to be extremely anti-Microsoft in real life. One thing that was so discussed in the film was the concept of open source, which means programmers make their program codes of their software available to the public, and in return they only collect fees for technical support. This is the concept used by the Linux OS, and guess what? The inventor of Linux was a technical advisor of the film. So is Sun's CEO whose company is in a different camp of Microsoft in terms of software philosophy. Sun even offers free full-featured office software on the web. Microsoft is against the concept of open source, so is NURV in the film. You will notice that the film shows a lot of the filmmakers' hate towards Microsoft. In fact, when Milo (Ryan Phillippe, the talented fresh graduate) asked Gary if Gary was like Bill Gates, Gary replied, "Bill who?" However, no matter how evil Bill Gates is portrayed in real life, I believe Microsoft does not kill people to obtain software codes from kids in the garages. The script was only a sublimation of the filmmakers' dreams. Again, a revelation of hate towards the software giant.

The film is entertaining, but with a lot of imperfections. The security system of NURV is like non-existing. Milo, who is a pioneer only in data compression technology, could hack into NURV's system in less than a minute. In real life, the best hackers need more time than that. NURV would be the stupidest company to store their crime data on the network. Not very convincing for any IT-educated people. And in the end all TV channels and computer devices were displaying NURV's wrong doings...

All in all, "Anti Trust" is an entertaining film and a good joke making fun of Bill Gates and Microsoft, but lacks the elements to become a classic film. It is good to watch but friends please remember: in real life, any security system is one million times better than NURV's.
