Basically, it is a very funny film. Rob Schneider is, of course, the hero of the film. Being the main character and screenwriter, this film is in no dimension worse than his previous film "Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo" (which was also very funny). Rob is more a people's comedian. Unlike Jim Carrie who would force an NG to try to make the crew laugh and show off himself as the king of comedy (and the crew had to laugh because he was the king), Rob is a much humbler guy and focuses on entertaining the audience. Compared to his performance in "Saturday Night Live" (US TV comedy show) and "Men Behaving Badly" (US TV sitcom), he is absolutely a much better comedian-actor now.

The Survivor (US TV reality show) sweetheart Colleen Haskel is the first of the 16 Survivor castaways to be in a major Hollywood film. I was a bit disappointed by her reduced charm in the film. While she was so lovable in Survivor, with the makeup and other stuffs in this film, she didn't look as darling in the civilized world of "The Animal". She just did okay.

Back to the story. The story is not a complicated one. It is a bit surprising in the end, but the jewel of the film is the comedy pieces performed by Rob. His animal behavior as a dog, as a seal, as a monkey, etc., was plain fun. I am not going to give away what is in the film - for your benefit when enjoying the film. The only thing that I want to complain about (apart from the lesser-darlingness of Haskel) is that the film is too short. It is only 83 minutes long. You may not have finished your popcorn when the film ends. If your friends watch A.I. in another house of the same cinema at the same time, you can watch the "The Animal" twice before your friend would finish with A.I...

Anyway, if you like comedies, this is not a film to miss.
